Primary entry routes:
Health hazards may arise from inhalation of dust generated from handling, ingestion and or contact with skin or eyes.
Acute health effects:
This product may cause transitory eye, skin and upper respiratory tract irritation.
Chronic health effects:
Long term-unprotected exposures to dust levels in excess of the PEL/TLV may cause lung damage (silicosis), a non-cancerous lung disease. IARC (the International Agency for Research on Cancer) states there is sufficient evidence in animals and limited evidence in human studies that crystalline silica is a probable carcinogen.
Medical conditions that may be aggravated by contact:
Pre-existing upper respiratory and lung disease such as, but not limited to, bronchitis, emphysema and asthma.
Signs and symptoms of overexposure:
Eyes:
Temporary irritation and inflammation.
Skin:
May cause allergic dermatitis.
Inhalation:
Inhalation of concentrations above the Occupational Exposure Limits may cause congestion and irritation of the throat, nasal passages and upper respiratory system.
Ingestion:
May cause stomach and intestinal distress.
Emergency and first aid procedures
